York is a historic walled city in North Yorkshire, the town hosts a range of historic buildings which flaunt the towns history which dates back to the Roman era. York has its own gothic style cathedral which has stood in the centre of the city for over 2,000 years the cathedral gets around 692,000 visitors each year who all visit to bask in the history the building offers. not only does the cathedral hold masses of history, but so does the main shopping area 'the shambles' where the buildings are mainly from the Saxon era. visitors to the city also enjoy visiting the national railway museum located within the walls of York this holds the country’s railway development and is great for all. for the little ones the city also has York maze which is great for a fun filled day out. The Academy of St Olaves also has its own chamber orchestra who perform at St Olaves church visitors are welcomed to go visit the church and watch the band play. for those wanting to stay over the city has many hotels to choose from such as the grand York, hotel indigo or park inn Radison.
